Water damage can be a nightmare for homeowners. Not only does it compromise a property’s structural integrity, but it also leaves it vulnerable to mould, mildew and other types of damage.

With the wet weather season approaching, now is the ideal time to protect your home against costly water damage and repairs. Waterproofing your home’s vulnerable areas can safeguard your property and ensure its longevity.

Fortunately, there are ways to prevent water infiltration, and if you’re a Kiwi DIY’er, you can do it yourself!

Discover how we can help you with our easy-to-apply house waterproofing solutions.

What areas of your house can you protect from water damage?

Water can infiltrate your home through various channels, so protecting various areas of your property from water damage is essential.

Here are the most critical areas to protect:

Roof

The roof is often the first to bear the brunt of changing weather and environmental conditions. As time passes, it is susceptible to developing cracks, which can lead to water leakage.

Effective roof waterproofing serves as a shield against water intrusion into your property and prevents further damage. It offers a crucial layer of defence against the elements, safeguarding your roof’s longevity and structural soundness.

Deck

Waterproofing your deck is essential to prevent rot and decay. Because decks are a well-used area of the house, they’re constantly exposed to regular foot traffic and various weather elements, which can cause damage and deterioration over time.

Concrete and driveways

While standard concrete used in outdoor living areas, such as pool areas, furniture, pathways, patios, driveways, or any other concrete structure, may appear strong and resistant to water, it is important to note that it is not entirely waterproof without proper treatment.

Concrete is naturally porous, which means it can absorb water over time if left untreated.

Applying a waterproofing concrete sealer is essential to prevent water absorption and crack formation.

Liquid Rubber Waterproof Sealant

Liquid Rubber Waterproof Sealant is a versatile product suitable for various DIY waterproofing jobs around the house, farm, or workplace. It can be applied to roofs, retaining walls, ponds, and more.

The sealant sticks to almost any surface, including concrete, wood, and metal. It provides a strong and durable waterproof barrier, making it an excellent choice for craftsmen, commercial users and DIY enthusiasts.

Liquid Rubber Smooth Coating

Liquid Rubber Smooth Coating is designed as a topcoat for the Liquid Rubber Waterproof Sealant or on buildings requiring high UV/solar reflectivity.

This water-based coating is resistant to yellowing and age-crazing. It incorporates state-of-the-art UV absorbers that protect surfaces from the harmful effects of sunlight. It reflects heat and sunlight and reduces thermal heat transmission, making it ideal for areas that require extra protection against the elements.

Liquid Rubber Deck Coating

Liquid Rubber Deck Coating provides an attractive and cost-effective surface solution for patios, decks, and walkways. While it is not meant to be used as a standalone waterproofing solution, it works exceptionally well when used in conjunction with the Liquid Rubber Waterproof Sealant.

The Deck Coating enhances the aesthetics of areas like factory floors or swimming pools. It comes in a standard light grey colour but can be customised with tinting upon request.

Liquid Rubber Seam Tape

Liquid Rubber Seam Tape is the perfect solution for reinforced protection in large, straight areas. It adds an extra waterproofing layer to roofs, gutters, and skylights. The Seam Tape can be used to seal gaps, seams, tears, and joins. It comes in two types: Seam Tape and GEO Fabric. The Seam Tape is ideal for surfaces like concrete, brick, and tiles, while the Liquid Rubber GEO Fabric is recommended for more porous substrates.

By applying the Seam Tape over the top of Liquid Rubber and adding another coat, you can achieve a completely waterproof finish.
