HOW TO FIND A LEAK IN YOUR CARAVAN

• The water tanks

A common way to find a leak is to do a water test. Thoroughly wet your caravan, then watch to see if there is any water seeping through (particularly from the roof and windows).

• Water spots, drips, or stains on the walls
• Discoloration of the ply
• Water spots on the floor inside the caravan
• Water spots on the ground outside the caravan

If the leak has been unnoticed for some time, then check for mould, dampness, wood rot and water damage or staining on the ply inside the caravan.

Regular inspection of the seals, at least twice a year, will help to minimize the risk of water
infiltration and leaks in a caravan.

Once the leak is located, make sure the surface is clean and dry before repairing it. If you are going to repair the caravan yourself, don’t resort to silicone cartridges that can be corrosive and eat into the aluminum cladding.
