waterproofing your caravan

Caravan, RV, or motorhome – whatever you call them, you want to keep your home on wheels in the best condition possible.

Waterproofing your caravan is an important step in ensuring that your investment lasts for many years, while you and your family stay warm and comfortable on your adventures.

In this post, we’ll explain the importance of waterproofing your caravan and how our DIY kits can help.

Why waterproof your caravan?

Water damage is no joke. It can seep in the smallest cracks, slowly building up over time, usually unnoticed. By the time you do notice, it’s too late and the damage has been done. Protecting your investment from water is an essential part of owning a motorhome.

Health risks

Waterproofing your caravan not only protects it from water damage but also increases the comfort level for you and your family. A damp caravan can be extremely unpleasant with mould and mildew growth hiding in the shadows.

Damp in the walls isn’t simply an annoyance, it can have serious health implications, and sometimes even deadly effects. By waterproofing your caravan, you can keep the interior dry and comfortable, and ensure that your family is protected from the harmful effects of this silent killer.

Return on investment

Caravans can be a great investment as well as a portable holiday home. A well-maintained caravan that is protected from water damage is more appealing to potential buyers and will fetch a higher resale price. Doing a little bit of work today can mean you have more in your pocket tomorrow.

Even if you’re not planning on selling, you still want to look after your investment. If you waterproof your caravan early on, you keep future repair costs to a minimum, along with energy costs associated with heating.

And of course, it’s not all about money, you want to be comfortable and look after your health.

Water in the walls and floor can cause heat loss, making your motorhome even colder. If you waterproof your caravan, you’ll improve insulation and keep the interior warm and comfortable for those inside.
